Universally, February is noted as the month of no season and we were lucky to make our honeymoon trip on the same month. Unlike other trips and travel experiences, the honeymoon has a certain place in everybody’s heart. And, we were no exception.
Normally, Goa stands out for younger adults due to beach life and hippy culture. We certainly wanted that to explore. But, our travel designers insisted us on experiencing the tranquil wilderness in the pristine greenery of Swapnagandha Valley.
Our journey started on 6th February and we started the tour with the serenity of wilderness at Chorla Ghats. A comfortable 3-hour drive in the company of our warm chauffeur Mr.Somnath we reached the eco nestles of Swapnagandha Valley surrounded by waterfalls, forestry, and network free zone. The midnight flight and the road trip fatigued us to the core but all these disappeared once we stepped into the territory of an eco-resort.
Such freshness in the air and bird’s chirping far from the hustle bustle of cities instantly rejuvenated us. We checked in, had our breakfast in the resort’s restaurant and entered our rooms. Surprised as we were since there was not a single gadget or any electronic distraction in the room. This is exactly how we had wanted it. On top of that, we were told that our mobiles would not be receiving any signal anywhere in the resort premises except at the restaurant and reception area.
Completely disconnected from the outside world, we finally got the chance to put an ear on each other’s heartbeats. The 2 nights in that lush green ambiance invigorated us to the core. We explored the forest through a guided nature trail, posed near the waterfalls, loved the organic meals on local recipes. The first half of our short story was so engaging that we repented not to book our stays for more days.
The next quarter of our journey got absorbed in the frolicsome experiences of beach life, authentic Portuguese settlement and on Malvani experiences. We headed for Candolim, North Goa the very next morning after a sumptuous breakfast.
The beachside property has major influences of Portuguese villa architecture and is quite popular among inbound tourists from various countries. It was a completely different experience, unlike the one we conceived in Swapnagandha Valley. The day was spent on strolling around the local lanes and dipping toes in the sea water. A lovely candlelight dinner accelerated the spirit of romance where we cozied up to create some unforgettable memories of our la-la land.
The next morning was kept for the other beaches in North Goa. We set for a short road trip to Sinquerim, Calangute, Vagator, Baga, Anjuna and not to forget the Dil Chahta Hai signature location – Fort Aguada. The day well spent on wet toes, beach essences and locally prepared Malvani lunch with beers at a beach shack. We returned Candolim by afternoon. The weather was cloudy with a cool breeze and was perfect for a romantic stroll. We ended up having a seafood cuisine for dinner and scouted the locations for the next morning trip to South Goa.
That was our last night in Goa. Apart from the Basilica and Dona Paula Jetty, the local markets attracted us more. The south Goa is popular for trendy bags and beachside jewelry. A slice of Goanese art and handicraft is among the major attractions. One must make a trip to Goa may be just for shopping. From spice villages to beach accessories and heritage interior pieces, Goa has a lot to offer. We got to spend a fun-filled week with romance in the leisurely locales of Goa in our very first outing.
