Farm trips could be the best choice to catch a glimpse of a relatively calmer life we lead daily. North Bengal has given a long-term vivid idea about farming and vegetation since decades. A not so familiar lifestyle of people involved in farms like The Petrichor Farm (Gorubathan) and The Auks Farm (Soreng, Darjeeling) are certain curious cases for outsiders. Actually, Petrichor is not just a farm, it’s a growing community which practices and encourages several activities in harmony with local villagers through organic farming, conducting programs for visitors to share the ways of simple & sustainable living in an eco-friendly environment, encouraging volunteers to participate in farming work, inviting artists to take part in art & craft, and of course offering such wonderful farm stays to guests to experience it all. The Auks farm is rich in farming; they grow rice and all seasonal vegetables like potatoes, tomatoes, spinach, bitter gourd, cucumber, maze, carrots, radish, beetroot, beans, broccoli etc. And also spices and fruits – guavas, bananas, they have planted 150 orange trees, avocados, passion fruit, strawberry, mango, plums, lichee and many more. And then there are different kinds of flowering plants as well. So, in search of an organic change in lifestyle, our next seven days will experience a typical farm life in North Bengal.
After arriving at NJP/Bagdogra airport, our chauffeur will drop us at the Petrichor farm, Gorubathan. The day shall be an armchair day, followed by dinner and an overnight at Gorubathan. In between, we can make our own schedule to roam around the farm.
After breakfast, we will visit the nearby villages and exchange a few interactions along with some photographic sessions. We will be returning for lunch and shall go for Jeep Safari at Gorumara National Park to make the discussion more interesting in the evening over bonfire, dinner and finally night stay at Gorubathan.
After breakfast, today we will be on for a day activity, in the farm. We may also try some learning on organic cooking in the in-house kitchen studio and will have our lunch. Later in the afternoon, we will spend some more time in the farm and with the farmers followed by our return to the farm for dinner and night stay at Gorubathan.
After breakfast, we will proceed towards Soreng. With a more relaxed life, we will have a lovely lunch and take a balmy rest in our farm. Afternoon shall be spent on strolling at around the farm followed by bonfire, dinner and night stay at Soreng.
Today will be a day to learn about the village life at Soreng. We will have our breakfast and go for a community tour nearby – tea state visit and village trail. Later we will return to the farm for a late lunch and relax for the rest of the day followed by bonfire; dinner and night stay at Soreng.
After breakfast, we may engage in some short day trip to Darjeeling and can spend some quality time on shopping and having meals at Keventers or Glenary’s before returning back to the farm for the night stay at Soreng.
After an early breakfast, we will proceed towards NJP/ Bagdogra and shall stop somewhere for an en-route sightseeing before getting down to the plains for a homebound journey.
