On the second day of this journey, we will pick you up from your lodge and then we head towards Tsavo west. Patterson’s man-eaters, the two infamous Lions, have made Tsavo a familiar name. And we are going to experience the thrill of eerie wilderness in an afternoon game drive after we reach Tsavo west. Tsavo National Park is divided into Tsavo East and Tsavo West by a railway line built during the colonial period. We will explore Tsao West which houses Masai lion, black rhino, Cape buffalo, elephant, leopard, tree hyrax, impala etc. West Tsavo is considered a hotspot for biodiversity. After the game drive, we dine and stay overnight in Tsavo.
Today we explore Tsavo west in a full day game drive. Here is a fun fact, during the World War I Tsavo National Park was the base for African campaign. The Tsavo parks are named after the Tsavo River. The Tsavo and Athi River both originate from Galana River inside the park. The vastness of Tsavo West is spread in earthy grasslands and sparse rocky outcrops as far as eyes could see. A thrill of adventure always hangs in the air in Tsavo. The Oscar-winning movie ‘The Ghost and The Darkness’ based on a true account of Tsavo’s two man-eaters helps in the thrill, as movie buffs would agree. After the daylong game drive, we go back to our lodge in Tsavo for dinner and overnight stay.
We Head towards Amboseli National Park. We then go for afternoon game drive in Amboseli as we reach our destination. Dinner and the night stay at Amboseli after the game drive. On the 5th day, we spend the day game driving in Amboseli National Park. The park, a savannah guarded by mount Kilimanjaro on its border offers stunning vistas for the travelers. Herds of big tusked elephants and wildebeests are guaranteed to make an appearance during your game drive. After the game drive, we return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Today you will travel around Naivasha and we start at the break of light towards our destination. Afternoon game drive in Lake Naivasha National Park awaits us as we reach our destination. Hell’s gate national Park situated south of Lake Naivasha is a relatively smaller national park. It is known for its wide variety of wildlife and the scenery including the Fischer's Tower, Central Tower columns and Hell's Gate Gorge. You will be able to see the historic sites of Rift Valley during the game drive. After the game drive, we will stay the night at Naivasha.
Our next destination is the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve, one of the largest National Reserves of Africa. We begin our exploration with afternoon drive in Maasai Mara. Maasai Mara houses all members of the ‘Big Five’. More than 500 species of birds are found in this reserve. Savannah stretched as far as eyes could see and scattered herds of elephants and wildebeests make this region the top destination for those who seek for the wild. We spend the next day exploring this reserve in a full day game drive. We stay the night at Mara.
Today we head towards Lake Nakuru. An afternoon drive is arranged for the 9th day. Lake Nakuru is also known as the Pink Lake, for it looks like a pink ring when sighted from a distance. This Lake is home to thousands of Flamingos and the pink ring around the lake is formed by this beautiful species of bird. The surface of this soda lake is scarcely recognizable with continuously shifting masses of pink. Lake Nakuru National Park is located around Nkuru Lake and it houses eastern black rhinos, southern white rhinos and Rothchild’s giraffe etc. The next morning we explore the park further in morning game drive. Later in the morning we head to Nairobi and arrive in the capital city by 5 in the evening.
