Embark on a journey into the land of mystical valleys and epic snow-clad mountain peaks with dangerous but breathtakingly beautiful roads crisscrossing through them. The gradient in the change of terrain from the lush green flora of the valleys of Sangla to stony cold deserts of Kaza and Nako will leave you awestruck to your core. The treacherous journey will toughen you up but the ancients lands of Tabo will compensate for it by soothing your soul down by the mere calmness of these high grounds. Villages like Chitkul will help you to get an understanding of the basic way of life of the local inhabitants.
Himachal welcomes you with all of its Highs and Lows; each one casting its spell on you. Kinnaur draws your admiration to the magnificent grandeur of the tribal valleys. Kaza, on the other hand, inspires you by its barren and rugged topography. This ensemble of landscapes instills a sense of respect for the simultaneous existence of order and chaos, both beautiful and intriguing in their own sense. Come, be a part of it and experience Himachal Pradesh like never before.
Today is all about gathering together at Chandigarh and then the subsequent journey of 113 KM to Shimla. Your hotel has been already booked to rest for the night at Shimla.
Once the breakfast is done, we will take you for some sightseeing in and around Shimla. This will get you accustomed to the high altitude climate of the terrain. After trying some local foods of the city, come back to the hotel for the night stay at Shimla.
Gobble up as we have to leave early for a wonderful journey to Sarahan, the Gateway to Kinnaur. Once we reach Sarahan, a gap to settle our belongings, check-in formalities and lunch we will set for the local places of importance like the Bhimakali Temple and the King's Palace. The afternoon can be kept to explore the town, trying some local food for dinner. And then, we need to return to the hotel room for the night stay at Sarahan.
We start our journey to 8,900 ft Sangla Valley. The journey will be somehow rugged; so we should have a light breakfast before getting on the cars. Cameras will be busy as we will be in the valley of flowers and saffron fields. After dinner, it’s time for our first camp night of the tour at Sangla Valley.
We start our day a bit early today and right after breakfast a long journey to the picturesque Chitkul village is the place we are heading towards. There will be occasional roadblocks on the way as hundreds of goats will be responsible for such obstacles. Once there, we may roam around the village to embrace the local way of living. By evening, we will be back to our camps to enjoy our campsite with hot food and night stay at Sangla.
Today’s destination is Kalpa, a small village with a majestic view of the Raldang, the Jorkanden and the Kinnaur Kailash Peaks on the horizon, Kalpa is a treat for mountain lovers. So without any further delay, we have to start our journey after an early breakfast to lie back in campsites, feeding on warm meals and night stay at Kalpa for acclimatizing with the steep altitude journey as perfectly for coming days.
Today we will enter a completely different terrain. With a light breakfast to prevent ourselves wither from overloaded food habit or from empty stomach, in the next few hours we will climb up to 12000 ft to reach Nako. The village gets its name from the mystically calm Nako Lake. There is also the Nako monastery which fits in superbly with a stone facade of the landscape. Our evening will reserved for leisure as the thin air of this altitude shall tire us easily to take up dinner and an early call for the night at Nako.
We are scheduled to visit a very ancient structure and hence proceed towards Tabo village. Tonight, we will stay at Tabo after experiencing the heritage of the place and its local culture.
Again, it’s time for a light breakfast as today we ascend to a height of 12000 ft to Kaza. It is like a frontier town among a vast expanse of barren white desert. We set our camps here and start for the day’s excursion to Key Monastery and the village of Kibber; both of these places believed to be a photographer’s paradise. Settling the camps by evening to give rest to our weary bodies and an early dinner followed by early to bed invites a healthier aspect for the night staying at Kaza.
We leave very early today for Manali, taking a long route through the Kunzum Pass and the Rohtang Pass. This will take almost the whole day before we reach Manali in the evening. Our pre-booked hotel shall be ready with the dinner to serve once we will get free after check-in formalities and freshening up. We will call for an early sleep at Manali. Next day, our sightseeing schedule will be in and around Manali at places like the Hadimba Temple, The Naggar Castle, and The Roerich Art Gallery among others. We shall also enjoy a bit of shopping at The Mall area along with some dining experiences at any of the local restaurants for dinner followed by our last night stay at the hills - Manali. Note: We can add one more day to rest in Manali
The previous 12 nights have ended with so many lovely experiences and moments that it will give birth to our recollection in memories once we leave for Chandigarh airport/ railway station after an early breakfast.
