With unfathomable natural beauty stretched across the length of the state, Kerala houses a rich and ancient civilization. This magical combination has attracted travelers from all around the world to this land of great heritage. While the hills of Munnar covered with green carpets of tea plantations, stretching up to the horizon make us sink into the enchanting beauty of the land. The performance of a Kathakali artist and the Kalaripayattu show hold the spirit of trend and tradition. The mystical backwaters of Alleppey soothe souls down where the Dutch Palace shall evoke a sense of respect for the artisans who masterfully crafted both the colonial and native architectural traits into one single building.
The exclusivity of Kerala lies not only in the exquisite beauty and diversity in its terrain but also on the natives who have successfully maintained their heritage to live in unison with the contemporary times. After all, it is known as God’s Own Country for a reason.
A chauffeur driven car will pick us up from Cochin and will drop at Munnar. As we gradually climb up the terrain, the lush green tea gardens will be welcoming us. Veiled in natural beauty and poised along the charming hills, Munnar is a place of finding back inner peace; especially after a journey of 130 KM. As we check into our resort, lunch will be served and after rest, we will visit the cultural hub named Puranjani Village. This cultural center holds the tradition of Kerala through the ancient practices of martial art named Kalaripayattu and Kathakali – the classical dance of Kerala. This amalgamation of the medium has helped the natives to keep alive their ancient heritage until now. By evening, we will come back to the resort for enjoying a lovely sunset at the tea valleys followed by a sumptuous meal and cozy night stay at Munnar.
Today after an early breakfast we will explore Munnar. The points include places like the Mattupetty Dam as well as the hydroelectric project in Pallivasal. Places like Vattavada and Pothamedu shall make an unparallel journey through the stretches of unending tea gardens. After coming back to the resort for a stomach-full of lunch, we shall visit one of the adjoining tea-estates to get an overview of the plantation processes. Sunsets from a tea-garden are something one should not miss if chances prevail. As darkness sets in, we will return to the hotel for a lovely dinner and night stay at Munnar.
After a quick and early breakfast, we will start for Alleppey which is almost 170 KM from Munnar. In less than 6 hours, we shall possibly descend from the hills to backwaters. Not wasting any more time, we will board the pre-booked houseboat for a journey through the backwaters of Kerala. This gliding through the crisscrossed networks of lagoons and lakes provide the opportunity to observe rural Kerala from close quarters. While admiring the charisma of this backwater float-center our onboard Chef will be taking care of our breakfast, lunch, and dinner with skillfully cooked local delicacies. After dinner, we will retire in our cabins of house-boat at Alleppey.
The mornings in the backwaters are truly magical. Standing on the deck and embracing the first Alleppey is indescribable. With a lovely breakfast to conclude our experience in the houseboat, our return journey to Cochin will resume. After reaching the Cochin hotel, we will have our lunches and take some rest before exploring the local markets, art cafes of Cochin. In the evening we will match our steps on the lanes of the Kochi Marine Drive to indulge in a retrospect of the ideology of these places. A lovely dinner at any of the popular restaurants in Cochin will be a perfect thing to end before driving back to until hotel for the night stay at Cochin.
The day starts with a traditional breakfast, followed by an experience with a day trip Cochin. We will try to identify the charm of old streets Cochin popularly known as the Fort Cochin to find the real spirit of this place. The Dutch Palace poses as an excellent example of colonial and native architectural styles. Mattancherry is another place thoroughly influenced by the Jewish culture. The Jewish synagogue bears rich intel for that. The local food of the region can conjure up a lovely lunch today before we visit the spice market for some culinary shopping. By evening, we will be back to the resort for dinner and some long-awaited sleep at Cochin.
We will be served with the last breakfast of the tour. Then we will proceed towards airport/ railway station with the assistance of our chauffeur for hydroelectricjourney home.
