Leh – Ladakh

Amidst the oasis valleys, adorned by towering mountains on all sides, we are in for a trance as the associated chants from the neighboring monasteries provide a perfect fusion required to experience the cultural imprints of the people in these ancient highlands.

The rugged terrains of this area have led to the flourish of a lifestyle that is basic and essential to its core. The art of simple lifestyle being the toughest in the world, we learn this by observing the civilizations born out this ancient high ground. Leh-Ladakh welcomes to embark on a mission to traverse the historic roads amidst the greatest setups of nature, and in the process, provides one the opportunity to soak on the multicultural philosophy of these ancient land.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival at Srinagar

On our arrival at Srinagar, we will be greeted and picked up by our chauffeur who will drive us to the hotel at Srinagar. After a long journey via Delhi, the rest of the day shall be kept for leisure followed by dinner and night stay at Srinagar.
 Note: If we arrive early, we can opt for Shikara ride at Dal Lake on an extra chargeable basis.

Day 2 - Srinagar to Kargil

After an early breakfast, we will be heading towards Kargil. En-route we will stop at Sonmarg for a while and continue towards Zojilla Pass (2740 mt – gateway to Ladakh) covering Drass and Tiger Hill. Lunch will be completed en-route. We will check into our pre-booked accommodation at Kargil at the end of the day. The rest of the time will be at leisure followed by dinner and night stay at Kargil.

Day 3 - Kargil to Ladakh

After an early breakfast we will check out from Kargil and continue our road trip to Ladakh. En-route we will visit the picturesque Buddhist village of Mulbekh that gets its name from the Mulbekh Monastery or Gumpa. As we pass the Fotula Pass (13,749 ft) on the Srinagar-Leh route, we will be visiting the oldest Tibetan Buddhist monastery, Lamayuru, in Leh District, tucked at an elevation of 11,520 ft. Another long day it is and the pre booked hotel at Ladakh can be the perfect place for a night stay at Ladakh.

Day 4 - Leh Day Trip

Today with the completion of breakfast we will visit Samker Gompa & Leh Bazaar, Leh, Shanti Stupa setups Palace. Samker Gompa is little up in the valley, 3 Kms from Leh Town, which is open to visitors in the morning and evening only. After Sanker, we will visit Leh Temple & get back to Leh Bazaar. The rest of the day will be at leisure followed by dinner and night stay at our pre-booked hotel in Leh.

Day 5 - Leh to Pangong Tso

We’ve to leave the hotel early at 5:30 am for an extended journey to Pangong Lake, locally known as the ‘High Grassland Lake’. Provisions for en-route breakfast will be available. We will be passing the Changla Pass at 5,486 mt., the panoramic view of the majestic valley, with the villages below the pass, appears as the most comprehensive curation by nature. As we reach Tsoltak, the summer pastureland of the yak, lunch can be on some local delicacies. The western shore of the lake is one of the most enchanting places. The picturesque landscape in the backdrop of the blue brackish lake appears as a dreamland, well ornamented by the canopy of a blue sky, cloned by its reflection on the still water of the lake. We will have some quality time at Pangong followed by leisure, dinner and night stay at Pangong camps.

Day 6 - Back to Leh

After an early breakfast, we will drive back to Leh in the afternoon and keep the rest of the time for leisure followed by dinner and night stay at Leh.

Day 7 - Leh to Nubra

It’ll be a camp day as we set out, after an early breakfast at the hotel, for Nubra Valley, with an average elevation of 10,000 ft. Once on the trading route that connected Eastern Tibet with Turkistan via the famous Karakoram Pass, the valley houses green oasis villages surrounded by thrilling stark slopes. We will rest for sometime after checking into our camp. Later, we will be visiting the popular Samstanling Monastery at Samur. Most certainly, we will enjoy one of the enchanting sunsets over the snowy pillars of the mountains before settling into our Camps, followed by a sumptuous dinner and a warm tent for a peaceful night under the clear starry sky at Nubra.

Day 8 - Back to Leh

After breakfast, we shall get some more time to spend in Nubra and nearby. Later, we will move down to Leh for night stay.

Day 9 - Leh to Tso Moriri

We will start early after breakfast and stop at Upshi for passport checking. En-route we will visit at Changthang Village, on the banks of the Indus River. The next pit stop is the Sumda Village, housing an early Tibetan Buddhist Temple, under the management of the Hemis Monastery that appoints Monks for conducting daily rituals in the temple. As we reach by the lake, at an elevation of 4,522 mt. we will check into our camps for lunch and rest, followed by a visit to the Korzok Monastery, belonging to the Drukpa Lineage. We will spend the rest of the day at leisure followed by early dinner and night stay at the camp in Tso Moriri.

Day 10 - Back to Leh

After breakfast, we will start for Leh via Tanglangla Pass & Tsokar Lake and reach Leh by afternoon. We may visit the Leh bazaar for some shopping and dinner. Then, we will come back to our hotel for the night stay at Leh.

Day 11 - Departure from Leh

After breakfast, our chauffeur will drop us at Leh airport for the return journey.
