Embark on a journey through the cool pine fresh mountain state of Meghalaya, set on dramatic horseshoes of rocky cliffs, to experience a terrain, most of which is essentially covered with pristine forests. Being one of the wettest places on the planet, the state is fondly called The Abode of Clouds, thus houses an ecosystem most unique in nature. The mighty waterfalls castes a charm of awe as one stands in its presence, while the ancient culture and discipline of the old villages take one on a time travel.
Meghalaya welcomes to experience a journey through the hill districts of the state, providing an opportunity to explore the culture and lifestyle of the indigenous tribes of the land that in itself is an enchantingly beautiful treat for any nature lover from around the world.
Once we arrive in Guwahati and our chauffeur will drive us straightway to Mawlynnong via Shillong where we shall halt for lunch. We will check into the resort in Mawlynnong in the afternoon. The rest of the day we shall spend on a casual walk around to acclimatize with the place followed by leisure, dinner and night stay at Mawlynnong.
Today we will be on for a day trip to Mawlynnong village after our breakfast. The traditional bamboo huts made by the Khasi inhabitants of the villages and their discipline on cleanliness will be worth admiring. Next, we’ll be visiting the famous Living Root Bridge, made out of the roots of ancient trees; a truly magnificent structure that has earned the village the title of “God’s Garden”. After having an en-route lunch, we’ll be reaching the Sky View Point, just in time to stay witness to a majestic sunset, complemented by a stunning view of the village and the neighboring country of Bangladesh. As darkness will be setting in, we’ll be back in the resort for leisure before enjoying a delicious dinner, followed by a night stay in Mawlynnong.
After having breakfast, we will check out from Mawlynnong and proceed towards Cherrapunji, the wettest place in Asia. After checking into the pre-booked hotel, we’ll have our lunch before setting out for visiting the mighty Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India, with a height of 340 mt. The Seven Sister Waterfall and the Dainthlen Waterfalls are also on the course after which we’ll be visiting the Mawsmai caves situated around 6kms from Cherrapunji, these limestone caves are the only ones in Meghalaya that are lit enough to enable tourists to enjoy the natural formations in awe. Soon, it’ll be time to return back to the hotel to spend the evening in leisure, followed by a timely dinner and night stay at Cherrapunji.
We’ll have an early breakfast and will set out for the Tyrna Village to visit the incredible double decker living Root Bridge. Next will be Wakaba Falls, 190 mt. in height, which provides horseshoes beauty of the surrounding canyons all around its vista. Soon we’ll proceed towards Presbyterian Church established by a Welsh missionary in the 19th century which was the first church in North East India. En-route we will have lunch on available local cuisine and shall end the day by returning back to the resort followed by leisure, dinner and night stay at Cherrapunji.
After an early breakfast, we will be proceeding towards Guwahati via Shillong. En-route we shall visit Elephant Falls and Shillong peak and will arrive Guwahati airport/ station as per schedule for the journey home.
