Itinerary

Day 1 - Welcome to Stockholm

Arrival in Stockholm according to your own itinerary. Stockholm, the capital of Sweden is built on 14 islands and you are never far from water. Well-preserved medieval buildings stand alongside modern architecture and just outside the city, the archipelago of 24 000 islands is waiting to be explored. Sights of interest include the Vasa Museum, Skansen Open Air Museum, City Hall and the Old Town (Gamla Stan). There are a lot more surprises and hidden places in Stockholm and we can customize the itinerary according to your preferences and wishes.

Overnight stay in Stockholm.

Day 2 - Stockholm - Mora in Dalarna

After breakfast at the hotel, you will head for Mora and the Dalarna region. When leaving Stockholm we recommend a detour to Sigtuna, a lively little town founded by Viking King Eric the Victorious. Sigtuna is the oldest, still existing town of Sweden. Continue via Enköping, Avesta, and Borlänge to Mora, beautifully located by Lake Siljan in the Dalarna region. Lake Siljan and the surrounding landscape were created 360 million years ago when a meteor fell from the sky and onto Dalarna.

Overnight stay in Mora.

Day 3 - Exploring in Mora

This day is at your own leisure to explore the many attractions Dalarna has to offer. We recommend spending the day in Mora where you can go for a walk along Lake Siljan, or maybe you would prefer to go for a swim. A visit to the Zorn Museum is also recommendable. Anders Zorn is famous amongst other things for his nude paintings, portraits and aquarelle paintings. The museum displays his works, in addition to parts of his private art collection. We also recommend a visit to Zorngården, the former residence of the couple Anders and Emma Zorn.

Overnight stay in Mora.

Day 4 - Mora - Around Lake Siljan

After breakfast, we recommend an excursion to the peninsula of Sollerön, located about 14 km from Mora. The Museum of Local History there consists of 12 buildings, exhibitions, and Viking ships. A walking path guides you around the field with Viking graves. From Sollerön you can continue to Gesunda, where a gondola will bring you up the Gesunda Mountain with panoramic views of Lake Siljan and the surrounding areas. Drive from Gesunda along Lake Siljan in the southern direction past Leksand to the charming village of Tällberg. The houses in this small village are mainly made of wood. In addition to the village’s 200 permanent residents, this is a popular place for private holiday cottages.

Overnight stay in Mora.

Day 5 - Mora - Karlstad

Today you will continue your journey south. On your way, we recommend a stop in Nusnäs located just 10 km outside Mora. Nusnäs is where the traditional Dala Horse – a national symbol of Sweden – is produced. You can follow the production process from the piece of wood until the complete and painted horse. Continue driving towards Karlstad, located just by the largest lake in Sweden – Lake Vänern.

Overnight stay in Karlstad.

Day 6 - Karlstad - Gothenburg

From Karlstad, you head in the southwest direction towards Gothenburg. Gothenburg or the Swedish name – Gothenburg is Sweden’s second largest city and has always been the natural gateway to the West. Gothenburg is a city characterized by international style, local creativity, and a natural, relaxed charm. It has the pulse of a big city, cultural experiences, beautiful countryside and shopping, all within comfortable walking distance in the city center.

In Gothenburg, you can sense the history. The city was founded in 1621 and has ever since been characterized by trade, shipping, and international contacts. Today Gothenburg is a city of industry and expertise, with two universities and many service companies.

Day 7 - Leisurely Exploration in Gothenburg

A full day of leisure in Gothenburg. We recommend a sightseeing tour onboard one of the famous sightseeing boats ‘Paddan’. Step onboard in the city center and spend the day exploring Gothenburg from the canals.

For those who seek excitement and thrilling fun, we recommend a visit to Northern Europe’s largest amusement park Liseberg! In Gothenburg, you find fashionable boutiques, large department stores and picturesque marketplaces with handicraft, souvenirs, and antiquities. The mall “Nordstan” is Europe’s largest, in the old estate area Haga you find lots of antiquities and in Gothenburg’s wonderful indoor market “Feskekôrka” you can buy or just look at all the fresh fish and the interior.
