Tawang, nestled 10,000 feet above the sea level on the northwestern extremity of Arunachal Pradesh, is the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama and hence a significant site for Tibetan Buddhists. It houses the 400-year old Tawang monastery, the significance of which is unparalleled for Buddhists. This trip to Tawang and its connected landscapes of Dirang, Bomdila and wildlife Nameri shall bring in some life energy to our beguiled soul with realization and entity.
The day will begin with a long road trip to Nameri from Guwahati. We will have our lunch in the middle of the beautiful countryside. We will reach Nameri by afternoon; spend the rest of the day at leisure followed by dinner and night stay at Nameri.
Early in the morning, we will visit Nameri National Park for safari. We will come back to the hotel for breakfast and will move towards Bura Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary which is just 10 KM from Nameri, an ideal place for Bengal Falcon birds to witness. There are destinations like the Golden Mahseer Conservation and Breading Center, Pigmyhog Conservation and Breading Center and Miri Village which shall be part of our plan. After the day’s trip, we will return to the hotel, followed by dinner and night stay at Nameri.
We will proceed towards Dirang on the third day after an early breakfast and shall reach there by afternoon. With the completion of the check-in formalities if time prevails we shall visit the Kalachakra Gompa and return to the hotel by evening to spend the rest of the day at leisure followed by dinner and night stay at Dirang.
Today we will explore Dirang and visit some notable spots around the town, crossing the Sangti valley which is not well known to the outside world. In fact, very minimal tourist infrastructure exists here. Surrounded by the towering ranges of Eastern Himalayas, blessed with pleasant weather round the year with maybe some light snowfall in the winter months, covered with fruit orchards (kiwifruit, apple, apricot, orange), dotted with pristine forests and meandering fast hill rivers and home to a very interesting culture and tradition. And it is also home to the black-necked cranes that come to the fields of this valley every winter. Sangti valley is situated about 15 kilometers from Dirang, and then Dirang-Dzong. Dirang fort was built in the 17th century to protect Bomdila from the neighboring states. This tribal area has uniquely made houses that were built to save the residents from biting cold weather. The architecture of these houses is worth appreciating. Then there exist National Research Centre on Yak, Hot Water Spring Falls with other attractions like Regional Apple Nursery, Progeny Orchard and Kiwi Farms to visit in Dirang. In the evening, we will return to the hotel for dinner and night stay at Dirang.
We will start for Tawang after an early breakfast from Dirang and shall be reaching there by afternoon. In the midst of the road trip, we will have lunch en-route. After completing the check-in formalities at Tawang we may visit the local market and experience the local cuisines for dinner and return back to the hotel for the night stay at Tawang.
After an early breakfast, the Tawang monastery shall be the first place to start with the day trip. We will visit the Sela Pass, Nuranang Falls, and Madhuri Lake. In the evening, we will return to the hotel followed by dinner and night stay at Tawang.
We will start very early today to cover Zemithang and visit Bum La Pass near the China border which is a 3 hrs drive from Tawang. We will have lunch en-route and devote the most to this spectacular road trip to Bum La pass and witness a sight of Tsongatser Lake. Late evening, we will return to our hotel for a dinner and night stay at Tawang.
We will proceed towards Bomdila after breakfast and will aim to cover the road trip by afternoon. We will check in to the hotel, and shall visit later we will visit the GRL monastery at Upper Bomdila if time and energy permits. Or else, shall spend the rest of the day at leisure followed by dinner and night stay at Bomdila.
Today after an early breakfast, we will visit some notable spots Bomdila and shall engage in experiences like trekking up to the RR Hills. The places like Eaglenest Sanctuary and waterfall, Orchard Farms, Bomdila Monastery, and Lower Gompa will be there on the list to make the day eventful. We will have our lunch en – route and in the evening shall visit the local market of Bomdila to have local cuisine for dinner followed by returning to the hotel and night stay at Bomdila.
After an early breakfast, we will check out from Bomdila and start our journey towards Kaziranga. En-route we will visit The Chilipam monastery and will be reaching Kaziranga late in the evening. We will have our dinner and then proceed with the night stay at our resort in Kaziranga.
Early in the morning we will be visiting Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary for safari and will return for breakfast. Then, we will explore some tea plantations nearby and return to the resort for lunch. With some rest and leisure, we will be going for another round of safari in the afternoon and return to the resort to arrange bonfire and barbecue for dinner and night stay at Kaziranga.
After breakfast, we will straightway proceed to Guwahati airport/ railway station to catch our return flight/ train for the journey home.
