Both Djvari and Mtskheta are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Today you will also visit t UNESCO World Heritage site Uplistsikhe Cave Town – Fortress Uplistsikhe (I millennium BC), one of the main points along the Great Silk Way. In Akhaltsikhe, you will visit the fortress of Rabat, and then you go to the cave city Vardzia (12th century), which is one of the highlights of the trip. There once were about 3,000 caves and 50,000 people lived there. You visit the church carved into the rock with amazing frescoes of the 12th century.
