Itinerary

08.00 hrs - Greeting & Pick-up

Our dedicated expert team for heritage city tour will meet and greet you at the Taj Gateway. After a brief introduction, we would quickly set off for the day's tour.

09.15 - 10.00 hrs - Belur Math Visit

Belur Math, the temple being the heart of the Ramakrishna Movement founded by Swami Vivekananda, a chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsadev is situated on the west bank of the Hooghly river near Belur, West Bengal. The temple noted for its rich architecture blends the unity of all religions especially Hindu, Muslim, and Christian. The entire construction of Belur Math was handled by one of the oldest constructional companies of Kolkata named Martin Burn & Co. in the year 1897.

10.45 - 11.15 - Shitalnathji Jain Temple

Shitalnathji Jain Temple or Parshwanath Temple popularly known as Calcutta Jain Temple was built by a Jain named Rai Badridas Bahadoor Mookim in 1867. The temple is actually a complex of 4 temples. The main shrine is dedicated to Shitalanatha, tenth Tirthankara. The interiors of the temple are lavishly decorated with high-quality mirrors and glasses.

11.35 - 12.00 hrs - Walk around Kumartuli

Kumortuli is noted for being the establishments of traditional potters’ quarter in northern Kolkata, the capital of the East Indian state of West Bengal. The place and its people are not only famous in sculpting clay idols for rituals in Kolkata and its surrounding; but also noted for sculpting fiberglass Maa Durga idols get exported to overseas – European countries, the US, China, Ukraine, and Ethiopia. Kumortuli has a reputation of crafting 4000 Durga idols on an average per year leaving aside the crafting of other clay idols to meet the craze for other Bengali – Hindu rituals that fall in schedule at regular interval throughout the year.

12.20 - 13.00 hrs - Marble Palace Visit

Marble Palace is a palatial nineteenth-century mansion in North Kolkata. It is located at 46, Muktaram Babu Street, Kolkata 700007. It is one of the best-preserved and most elegant houses of nineteenth-century Calcutta. The mansion is famous for its marble walls, floors, and sculptures, from which it derives its name.

13.00 - 14.30 hrs - Lunch

We would take our lunch break to savor authentic Bengali delicacies. Fuel up for the rest of the day!

15.00 - 15.45 - Victoria Memorial Visit

Victoria Memorial Hall is India’s largest and one of its oldest museum libraries. Dedicated to art history, it has been an inseparable part of the Memorial since its foundation.  It is dedicated to the memory of Queen Victoria (1819–1901) and is now a museum and tourist destination under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. The memorial lies on the Maidan (grounds) by the bank of the Hooghly River, near Jawaharlal Nehru Road (better known as Chowringhee Road).

16.00 - 16.30 - St. John's Church Visit

St. John’s Church is the third oldest church located at the northwest corner of Raj Bhavan, lists among the important heritage sites of Kolkata. The church is also famously known as ‘Pathure Girja’ or Stone Church because of its brick and stone architecture. This was originally the property of Maharaja Nabakrisna Deb, who was persuaded by Warren Hastings in 1782 to sell it to him in his private capacity. The church was built entirely on the site of the old burial ground of Job Charnock, the founder of Kolkata and his family.

16.30 - Departure
