Shantiniketan is noted as an abode of Bengali Literary Master Rabindranath Tagore. The history and culture involved with this small town near Bolpur in the Birbhum district of West Bengal have been fascinating travelers across the globe for years. Along with the splendid resources of B-A-N-G-A-L-I-A-N-A, Shantiniketan has a sublime lifestyle of tribal Bengal, we call it Adibasipara. If we travel by train, a short trip for 2 nights will provide a slice of experiences of this tribal life.
Once we arrive at Bolpur Station by mid-day our pre-arranged pick up will enable us to check into the homestay we wish to settle for coming have nights. A sumptuous traditional Bengali lunch and a short stint of balmy rest shall take away all our tiredness and we will engage in some casual walk at around the homestay or can visit the Visva Bharati University and Tagore’s Ashram in Bolpur. The evening shall be spent on bonfire and barbecue with a tribal program followed by dinner and night stay at Santiniketan.
After breakfast, we shall engage in some village local sightseeing at Ballavpur Wildlife Sanctuary, Chatim Tala, Amar Kutirtravelersetc. By noon we will return again for a traditional lunch and have some rest to gear up for another special event in the evening. In the afternoon we shall visit Khoai and Kopai to witness the sunset and the nearby 'haat' (local market). The last evening shall be spent on listening Baul songs – a popular folk music tradition of Bengal over some tribal finger food delicacies like Bamboo Roasted Chicken (Banspora Mangsho) followed by dinner and night stay at Santiniketan.
In view of our train timing, we will be dropped at Bolpur Station by the appointed chauffeur for our journey back to Kolkata.
