At the confluence of Kangsabati and Kumari rivers forms the town Mukutmanipur in the Bankura district of West Bengal. The ideal weekend getaway Mukutmanipur is blessed with hills and forests surrounding the seasonal colour changing water body. Mukutmanipur houses the second largest water barrage across India that canalizes Kumari and Kangsabati Rivers into the 3 districts of West Bengal – Medinipur, Purulia, and Bankura to facilitate irrigation during summer. The massive dam is just 2 KM away from another notable destination called Bangopalpur Reserve Forest. The ethereal nature spot Bonpukuria Deer Park is also an important destination to explore for the weekend tourists. However, the region also incorporates the influence of terracotta art as a part of a culture trip in Bishnupur.
By road, it shall take around 6 hours to reach Bankura. However, to avoid the road trip, we can start from Kolkata Shalimar Railway Station and reach Bankura Railway Station at around 11:30 A.M. We may also experience some boating on the river and observe the colour changing aspects of the water body. Later in the evening, we will get back to the resort for leisure followed by dinner and night stay at Mukutmanipur.
After breakfast, we will proceed towards Susunia Pahar and will descend towards the Bell Metal and Stone Handicraft villages nearby.
